tutorial ②

I'm Lomi.

 

Almost all children got their report card of 1st grading. Some children have not

gotten them yet. I don't know the reasons....

 

Unfortunately, some students got the failure marks. Liz and the board members

were discussing how we could support them. Finally, Liz decided to be a tutor

after school.

 

She has her own son who is a university student and loves our scholars like her

own children.

Liz's report

I was worried this afternoon that nobody will show up inspite of my patience with them. I could not help but I get outside looking for them near the bridge. Charles' s mother saw me with her son. She went back to the school to look for Daniel. She told me that Daniel didn't finish writing on his notebook and his mother is with him.

 

At 4:30pm, Gabriel showed up and I tutored him first. He has problem with English. He is a distracted child. You should not loose patience. His mother told him that if he does good, i will give him a surprise.

 

I scan his notebook but he has no assignment. He was not able to write all the 10 questions from his English lesson. it is about future tense. Only 3 questions that he was able to copy. So I taught him that he should add will to the verbs. Ex. go - will go, play - will play and clean will clean are the future tense of this verbs.

 

After 15 minutes, Daniel arrived with his mother. I scan his notebooks and he has a problem with division. So both Daniel and Gabriel was eager to know what my topics are. Gabriel was lying down on the table. I just let him do whatever he wants as long as his attention in on our lessons.

 

I let them review their plurals if they understand. Nouns in the book, I explained to them how to change from singular to plural. First I ask them if they understand the nouns mango, foot, child, tomato, plate, cup, baby and candy. Afterwhich I teach them the plural of the nouns. They got it right the plural of child is children. But normally you should add s and taught them add -es if the ending of the noun is o. If it ends in y, change y to i and add es. If it has double o, change these to double e. Then I reviewed them. This time they got it right.

 

Next subject we tackle was about Math. Daniel's mother told me that he has difficulty with division. I let them write the multiplication table up to 5. Daniel got 50 while Gabriel got 43. Not bad. I taught them how to multiply 2 numbers. The first number, I was teaching them but the next they know already how to multiply.

 

Next is division. 3 numbers divided by 1 or 2 numbers. They now know already.

 

The two of them just lack focus. I gave them assignments to be submitted next Thursday. We finished at 5:45 pm. It was already dark. I was afraid that the boys will go home very late. I send them near the road of their place while I proceed to NSO to wait for my ride to my house.

 

What a day! It was fun and I felt fulfilled knowing that the boys have a big chance that they will pass their subjects in the future. Eric never came to the office.

 

It must be so hard for them to catch up with their classmates. But

NEVER NEVER NEVER GIVE UP. You can do it.

Tutorial ①

Eric was absent today. Yesterday, he was present in school. I will check on him tomorrow.
Only Daniel showed up for the tutorial classes. Gabriel went the other way because I didn't see him. He gave me a great nod when I ask him during lunchtime that he should be present in the afternoon during tutorial class.

 I texted M.V if Gabriel passed by. If so, could you tell him to go to the office for our tutorial?
M.V answered that she saw Gabriel and told him to go to the office because I was waiting for him. Gabriel, on the otherhand, didn't listen to her but instead run towards their home.
I texted his mother and replied when on my way home about 7:15pm that she will talk to Gabriel about this matter when she comes home.

Daniel was really improving with his Mathematics. He failed this subject last 1st grading. He has a big chance that he will pass this subject. Next week, we will tackle Filipino and Science.

Children’s Activities October 14, 2012

1st Session – Grades 2 & 3

Time: 8:30am – 10:00am

I let Sarah lead the prayer “Our Father” as our opening prayer.

 

I arrived at 8:10 am and all the children are there except Hanna. Hanna arrived at 8:40 am. We started at exactly 8:30am. All the children are reading books. They all are talking and sharing to each other what they’ve seen in television. They don’t want to start yet the session because they are still watching some pictures on the books.

 

I decided to read with them and let them understand all about sharks. Everybody was attentive while I read and point out to the pictures about sharks. Gabriel interrupts the discussion so many times. I would listen to him if his topic is relevant but if not I will tell him that we concentrate on the sharks. Gabriel told me that his teacher read to them the story about the “The Crow and the Pitcher” last Sunday’s lesson, and he answered all the questions his teacher asked them. I told him that if only he would concentrate in listening, he can learn something. I was reading the book invertedly to them. Can you imagine? They all want to see the pictures of different kinds of shark so I just read the facts. We finished the book and afterwards, I let them choose the books they want to read since they still have time left. I served them their snacks Banana Pancakes and milk. They all ate their pancakes and drank their milk. After washing their plates and tumblers, they went back to their seats and read their books they chose. I was happy that children got interested in reading and watching the pictures on the books. They were eager to learn and their faces are very happy while exchanging their view to others.  

 

I thanked C.G who helped me prepare the Banana Pancakes and milk.

Report

 

We started at exactly 10:30am. Our opening prayer a Tagalog prayer they just learned from school. Rachel, Mikeand Dorothy are the leaders. For their exercise, they performed the “Insomnia” which James is their leader.

 

Our topic for today is Love for God - Prayerful. I let Rachel read the first page about Love for God.
I asked the children who prays to God before they sleep? Some children admitted that they don’t pray but some do. So I let the children recite their prayers so that other children would listen and practice also how to pray. Lily, Rachel, Mike, Anna, James  and Fortume recite their prayers on their seats. During the discussion, we have visitors. Min, one of Sapnay directors and his friend Hana. I stopped the discussion and they all greeted Min. He was delighted to see all the children grown up. He was giving them words of wisdom. Afterwards, the children introduced themselves to Min. He and his friend Hana were very excited to hear their introduction. Now, it’s Min’s and Hana’s turn to introduce themselves. Min was telling the children that he has a daughter about their age 10 yrs. old. He is amazed that the children knows how to speak English. He want her daughter to learn English too with a friend. Hana on the other hand had triplets. All of them are boys and they are all 30 yrs old and he has 5 grandchildren. They are all in a restaurant business and massage parlor. It was his first time in the Phils. Min was his interpreter because he speak English just a little. The children wanted to show off their talents to Min and Hana. Lily, Anna , Fortune and Dorothy performed the Chiquita dance while James, Mike, Charles, Jack, Rachel and Ava performed the Gannam Style dance. Our visitors were entertained of their talents. After the dance, I let the children catch their breath and I let them inhale and exhale 3 times so that they can breath normal. We finished our lessons. I told them that they should thank God for the blessings received through prayers. They should pray also to their sick friends and relatives. Before sleeping, make it a habit to pray to God and talk to him about your problems. Before taking a test, pray to God that He will enlighten you so that you can remember what you study the night before. Always pray before sleeping so that you will not have a bad dream. All the children talked simultaneously about their dreams. One by one I let them talk about their dreams. They admitted that they’ve got bad dreams because they didn’t pray to God that night.

 

Y.Y and S.R are busy preparing the Banana Pancakes. They just cooked a few only by the time it was snack time so Min and Mr. Kazu distributed the snacks they brough. A box of Panda biscuit and juice. When the pancakes were ready, we serve them and milk were distributed also. The second pancake was given to the children for take out.

 

After their snacks, they washed their plates and tumblers and brushed their teeth. Some children who are done, asked permission if they can stay and watch 2012 the movie. I told them to ask permission from Mr. Kazu. Mr. Kazu told them that it’s up to me. Personally, I want them to go home so that their mother will not look for them. Since, Y.Y and S.R were not yet done, I allowed them to watch inside the room. 

 

At 12:30pm, we formed a big circle and the children sang  “Our Father” as our closing prayer. We have our group picture taken together with our visitors. Some of the children stayed to watch the 2012 movie.

 

Y.Y and S.R finished cooking at 1:30pm. I thank them. They left together with their children, Fortune and Ava.

 

 

 

3rd  Session – High School

Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

 

Attendance; Andrew, Kayla , Ashley

 

(Chloe is absent. She handed her excuse letter. She has many projects to do in school with her group. Only this Sunday they got busy because the dealine is Monday. )

 

We waited for the high school group. It was already 1:00pm but no sign of them. So we decided to wait for them until 1:30pm. Andrew arrived at 1:15pm, Kaylaat 1:20pm and Ashley at 1:25pm running as fast as she could. At last we have 3 students. It was first time for Ashley to see Min. Ashley introduce herself to Min and his friend Hana.  Ashley is so bubbly. She loves to talk to visitors.

 

We started our session at exactly 1:30pm.

 

I let Ashley lead the opening prayer “Our Father”.

 

I let the children introduce themselves to our visitors. Our visitors also introduced themselves. I let them show off their talent in singing. The three of them sang the song 12:51. Their voices blended so well according to Min. We then proceed to our lesson today about Love for God – Prayerful. I let the Ashley read the first page about praying for others when they are sick. They prayed only 1 time for their sick friend. I let Kayla read the next page. For the last page, I let Andrew read. They admitted that they sometimes pray at night and thanked God for the blessings they received. Mr. Kazu and our visitors have to leave at 2:30 pm to go to the orphanage. Min asked Ashley what is an orphanage. She has an idea but she could not say it in English. Andrew was able to tell Min what is an orphanage.  I served their snacks Banana pancakes and milk, while our visitors ready themselves to leave us. We had our picture taken. After saying the prayer before meals, Mr. Kazu, Min and Hana bade farewell to us.

 

It was Ashley’s turn to wash the plates and tumblers. They all brushed their teeth.

 

At 3:10 pm, they all went home.

 

 

 

Children’s Activities October 7, 2012

1st Session – Grades 2 & 3

Time: 8:30am – 10:00am

I let Eric lead the prayer “Our Father” as our opening prayer.

 

My lesson for the children today is the story about “The Crow and the Water Pitcher”. I focus the children to understand what the story is all about. I got this from the “Reading and Vocabulary” for 5+ yrs. old. I read the sentence and translate them into “Bisaya” so that the children understand what we are reading. If we encountered a word that the children didn’t know, we look it up in the dictionary and explain to them in their level.  I show them how the crow was able to drink water on a pitcher by putting pebbles so that the water level will rise up until the crow was able to drink the water to quench his thirst. The moral lesson of the story is “Try and try until you succeed.”

 

After reading the story, I gave them a spelling test. The words are as follows; crow, jungle, water, level, house, idea, pebble, little, beak, and away. Hanna got a perfect score. Followed by Sarah who scored 6 . Eric 4 points and Gabriel got 4 points  and Danielgot the lowest score 3 points. I gave them another test about what they see in the picture. I gave them a dictation to see if they really listed and jot them down on their notebooks. Hanna got a perfect score of 3 points while Sarah got 2 points. Eric got 1 point while Daniel and Gabriel got zero. Lastly I gave them a test to determine the baby of an animal I will mention to them like dog, cat, chicken, pig, kangaroo. Hanna got 4 points. Sarah got 3 points, Eric got 2 while Gabriel got 1 and Daniel got 1.

 

After checking the tests of the children, they began to squander and they didn’t remain on their seats. We served them egg sandwich and Milo. They ate them all and drank their Milo begging for more. I gave them a second round of Milo. All of them drank their Milo all the way down. They requested for milk next Sunday.

 

I thanked C.G and  J.B who helped me prepare the Egg Sandwich and Milo.

2nd  Session – Grades 4 to 6

Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm

(Rachel is absent because she is obliged to attend the burial of her uncle in Basak, Mandaue City. Her mother, H.S informed me already .)

We started at exactly 10:30am. Our opening prayer was “Who Am I?” which Fortune and A are the leaders. For their exercise, they performed the “PSY – Gangnam Style” which James is their choreographer. They also performed the “Chiquita Dance” with Lane Lily as their choreographer. They really enjoyed the 2 dance crazes.  They were very alive during the greetings.

 

Our topic for today is about Self-reliance. I let James read the first page about self-reliance. The picture on our book was doing household chores without being told. Some children admitted that they sometimes wait for their mothers to tell them to do their chores. Some also automatically do their household chores without being told. I let Lily read the 2^nd page about self-reliance. The picture was about the children in school cleaning and helping without being told by their teachers. The children also help bring the things of their teacher. Some would erase the blackboard without being told. Anna and her classmates cleans the floor after morning session. They want their teacher to be happy by keeping the floor clean and shiny. In James’s classroom, he helps to make it clean by picking up papers on the floor and put it in the trashcan. Fortune also volunteers to erase the blackboard without being told. Afterwards, I gave them a test of spelling of the opposites. They should write in their notebooks the following; big, thick, short, narrow, low, deep, sad, fat, old (man), dirty, strong, cheap, hot, open, hard, loud, wet, tight, tidy and new. Anna got the highest score of 15 points out of 20 points, next was Lily with 14 points, Dorothy with 12 points, Jamesand Mark with 11 pts, Charles 10pts, Ava 9pts, Fortune and jack 6 pts. The lowest was Nikky 4 pts.

 

Since we have more time left, I let the children make an origami because our kid’s corner looks bare. Everybody was then very busy making Halloween pumpkin head.

 

M.V was the only one helping me today. She got ot busy putting egg sandwich spread in their slice bread and making the cold Milo drink. Everybody loves the taste of egg sandwich except Ava and Dorothy. According to them they are not used to eat egg sandwich so they don’t like the taste. Almost all the children had their 2^nd round of Milo drink. They were all smiling after they ate their snacks because their stomachs are full. Then they washed their plates and tumblers and brushed their teeth.

 

 

At 12:20pm, we formed a big circle and the children sang  “Amahan Namo” as our closing prayer.

Some of the children stayed to play cards and make some origami. I told them that they have to leave at 1:00pm so that I can start my 3^rd session. Indeed at 1:00pm, Fortune, James, Mike, and Dorothy left the office.

 

3rd  Session – High School

Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

 

Attendance: Chloe, Kayla, Ashley

 

(Andrew is absent.)

 

I let Chloe lead the opening prayer “Our Father”.

 

We started at 1:10pm. I let Chloeread the first page about Self-reliance. She cannot pronounce well the words. I let Kayla read the second page but she was also stammering. She cannot pronounce well the words. Both of them didn’t observe punctuations like a comma. When you see a comma after a word, you should pause then proceed to the next words of the sentence. This time, Ashley arrived at 1:18pm. I was teaching Kayla and Chloe how to read and pronounce the words correctly. They were very  interested to learn how to read because they want to be confident in reading aloud in the class. I told them how important for them to deliver because they have many reporting in high school. I told them to read books and newspapers.

 

Chloe requested to see short films so that she will have an idea about them. So the 3 girls look and see and listen to the conversations in the internet. They all watched 4 short films. Chloe indeed have an idea already how to start their film making.

 

I served them their snacks egg sandwich and cold Milo drink. They were all hungry. They ate them all and drank their Milo.

 

It was Chloe’s turn to wash the plates and tumblers. They they all brushed their teeth.

 

At 2:55 pm, they all went home including Lily, Anna and Ava who were in the room making more origami.  

 

 

 

Children’s Activities September 30, 2012

1st Session – Grades 2 & 3

Time: 8:30am – 10:00am

I let Sarah lead the prayer “Our Father” as our opening prayer.

 

We have a visitor today. His name is Yusako. He introduced himself to the children after each one of them introduced themselves to him.

 

My lesson for today is about comprehension. I opened the lesson in the computer for English. I let them identify the animals and they will tell me the name and spell the name. I taught them also how to pronounce it correctly. I see from their eyes that they are willing to learn. Then we sing the Alphabet song. I was shocked that they don’t know the song very well specially the end part. So I teach them one by one,  A,B,C,D,E,F<G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O,P. Q,R,S,T,U & V,W,X, Y & Z, Now I know my ABC, boys and girls come sing with me. One by one I let them sing in front of me so that I will know if they really listened. I opened again the flash cards in the laptop. From A to Z we read the words and I ask them if they understand the work. If not I explained to them what’s the meaning. Afterwards, I gave them a test. It is a crossword puzzle. There are five pictures of sea animals. The first letter of the sea animals.They have to identify and  put the names on the box provided. The sea animals names are Whale, Starfish, Shark, Seahorse and Dolphin. Sarah finished first and I gave her 5 points, next was Hanna, I gave her 4 points, next was Gabriel, I gave him 3 points, they Eric, I gave him 2 points and last is Deaniel with 1 point. I told Daniel to catch up. I also gave them a picture and let them color the toothbrush they can see. Sarah finished first. She counted 20 toothbrushes. Hanna is the second to submit her paper and counted 20 toothbrushes. Gabriel was the third to submit and he counted 21 toothbrushes. Next is Eric who counted 20 toothbrushes. Last was Daniel who counted 21 toothbrushes. They really have keen eyesight.   

 

They were all hungry after the test. I served them snacks, Pancit Canton and Milo. I already reminded them to bring their chopsticks because we are serving ramen. Only Gabriel has no chopsticks. I provided him from the donated  chopsticks from Japanese student volunteers. They love the taste. I brought the brand that they are not familiar but taste so delicious. They drank their milo all the way down. They requested that every Sunday they want Milo as their drink.  Afterwards, they all washed their plates and tumblers and brushed their teeth.

 

I thanked C.G and  J. B who helped me prepare the Pancit canton and Milo.

 

At 10:00 am, Hanna lead the closing prayer “Angel of God”.

 

 

2nd  Session – Grades 4 to 6

Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm

(Rachel and Fortune are absent today because they joined the Girl Scout Camping in their school. Their mothers informed me already.

We started at exactly 10:30am. Our opening prayer was “Give Thanks” which Dorothy is the leader. For our exercise, we performed the “Follow the Leader” which James is the leader.

 

We have a visitor today. He is Yusako. He introduced himself after the children one by one introduced themselves to him. They asked him about his talent. They were sad because his talent is playing soccer and he can’t perform a sample for them.

 

I asked the children what the topics are all about last week, and they chorused Industrious, Obedience, Love for our Country and Orderliness. I asked them if they are ready to take a test, and they all shouted “Yes”. They were all excited if it’s a Math test or Spelling test. I chose the spelling test. But before the test, I prepared a crossword puzzle for them. I want to test them about following instruction and comprehension. The instruction is, choose words from the box that will fill the spaces. Then answer the riddle by writing the boxed letters in the box at the center on the line. The words in the box are every, help, better, town, any, please, many, thank and hello. There are 4 letters given in the puzzle name j, l, u and t. Then after reading to them the instructions, Donna was the first to pass but later I returned her paper because the word in the middle didn’t answer the riddle, “What’s in the middle of a jellyfish?” Charles was the first to find out and solved the correct answer and positions of the words. He got 10 points. I was surprised for the first time Charles was very good at puzzles. Nikky passed her paper last so she got the lowest score of 2 points. My grade system in this test is I ranked the test papers according to who’s first, second,  third and so forth to pass their test paper with correct answer will be given a score of 10, 9, 8, 7 and so forth. Next test, I gave them Spelling test but with a catch. I will say the word which are nouns and give the meaning and use it in a sentence and they will write the plural and with correct spelling. Again, Charles got a perfect score of 15 points. Hurray for Charkes! He’s got talent! Ava got perfect score also. Nikky got zero! All her answers have wrong spelling. She doesn’t know the plural form of the nouns. I am sad about Nikky because I had high expectations for her. I told her to read again her lessons about pluralization. I learned a lot from the children when giving them tests.

 

E.J was the only one helping me today. So we got busy cooking their Pancit canton (Ramen) and preparing Milo. Then we were done, we served them to the children. They all love their ice cold Milo and pancit canton. Almost all the children had their 2^nd round of Milo drink and they asked for more pancit canton but only half of the bowl was left and I distributed to them who needs the most. They were all smiling after they ate their snacks. Then they washed their plates and tumblers and brushed their teeth.

 

 

At 12:15pm, we formed a big circle and the children sang  “Our Father” as our closing prayer.

Some of the children stayed to watch the films in the laptop namely Kiki’s Delivery Service, Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea, Totoro, and Laputa the Flying Island. They asked permission from Mr. Kazu if they can watch in the room without disturbing the High School scholars with their afternoon session. Mr. Kazu granted them. The children went home at 3:00 pm.

 











 

3rd  Session – High School

Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

 

Attendance: Ashley, Kayla, Andrew and chloe

 

Ashley arrived very early. She arrived at 12:00nn.  She joined the children watching “Ponyo”.

 

I let Kayla lead the opening prayer “Our Father”.

 

They introduced themselves one by one to Yusako, our visitor. In return, Yusako introduced himself to the children.

 

I asked the children what are the topics last week and we reviewed them one by one. Afterwards, I gave them a test about pluralization same with the 10:30 am group but I added 5 nouns that are difficult. Chloe got 19 points, Andrew got 16, Kayla got 18, and Ashley got 17 points. Then I gave them a game to play while I prepare their snacks. 

 

The game is called “Connect”. I let Chloe draw a whole series of dots on a sheet of paper. See the grid below;

 

Each player takes turn drawing a line between two dots. The lines are horizontal or vertical (not diagonal). The game starts slowly with lots of unconnected dots, but as the game goes on, you get nearer and nearer to making squares. If a player makes a complete square, they get to mark the square with their initials in the center of it, and they get another turn at drawing a line. The player with the most squares when all the dots are connected wins.

 

They didn’t finish the game because in every line they mark, they are very careful not to give a chance to anyone.

 

I served them their snacks and they asked for more Pancit Canton. I told them that I equally divided them to their bowls. They loved the taste, it’s very delicious!

 

It was Andrew’s turn to wash the plates and tumblers. They they all brushed their teeth.

 

At 3:00 pm, Kayla  lead the closing prayer. Then they all went home.

 

Mr. Kazu, Yusako and I  headed to Jame’s house in Villagonzalo 2. It was Mr. Kazu’s first time to visit James’s house. Their house is located in front of DPWH building (owned by the government) which got burned last Friday due to faulty. The fire was just contained in the compound. It didn’t scatter outside where many squatters are living. We stayed there for quite a while because it rained so hard. I was afraid that the river will overflow. Thank God just a little water came inside the toilet of Sapnay office.

                                                                     

 

 

Children’s Activities September 23, 2012

 

1st Session – Grades 2 & 3

Time: 8:30am – 10:00am

 

Attendance: 1) Eric 2) Sarah 3) Daniel 4) Gabriel 5) Hanna

 

I let Eric lead the prayer “Angel of God” as our opening prayer.

 

We have no visitors today. We are back to our normal session.  Today.  My lessons will be about reading comprehension. I prepared 3 stories for them to read. First I taught them the proper way of reading. How the sentences are read with intonation so that the listeners will not get bored but excited to listen what the story is all about. First we read about the umbrella. After explaining to the children all about the umbrella, I let them answer the 3 question below the story. It is a select the correct letter of the answer. They can read again the story above to check if their answer is correct. This is a test to determine if they really understand the story. At this point, Mr. Kazu distributed 3  ballpens (2 black and 1 red) to all the children. They all thanked Mr. Kazu. Hanna gor perfect. Eric got 2 out of 3, Sarah and Gabriel got 1 point, Daniel got no score. Next story was about the birds. I let them read by themselves then let them answer 3 questions below the story. I read again the story and explain to them about the birds before I correct their papers. This time, Hanna and Sarah got perfect score, Eric got 1 point.  The last story was about Marshmallow, how it originated. Both Hanna and Sarah  got a perfect score of 3 and still Daniel got zero. I told Daniel to practice reading hard. No wonder he got low grades in school. I will talk to his mother about this discovery. The story and test by the way are for grades 2. Daniel is already grade 3. He should understand what he is reading at this stage.

 

They were all hungry after the tests. I served them snacks, donuts, cakes and some biscuits donated by Me and Asami. I served them juice also. They are looking for Milo and milk. It is so ironical when I served them Milo they requested to drink juice. Now I served them juice, they are looking for Milo or milk. Children are so confusing sometimes. Since they have lots of food they brought them home. They all washed their plates and tumblers and brushed their teeth.

 

I thanked C.G who helped me prepare the juice and doughnuts and cakes and dividing the cookies equally for their take out.

                                                             

 

2nd  Session – Grades 4 to 6

Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm

(James is absent. His mother called and texted me today that he cannot join because he has high fever.)

We started at exactly 10:30am. Our opening prayer was “My All in All” which Lily, Nikky and Ava are the leaders. For our exercise, we performed the “Chicken Dance”.

 

We are back to our normal session since we don’t have visitors today. We discussed Obedience, Orderliness, Love for our Country and Industrious. They took turns reading and afterwards explain what they have understand about the values they read.

 

I asked all the children if they are obedient. They all chorused, sometimes. They don’t like to obey the commands of their parents because they are playing or busy with something else. They sometimes obey and do the tasks given to them but with a heavy hearted. They pout and stump their feet to show that they don’t like the task.

 

We discussed also Orderliness. The girls love to arrange their things and fold their clothes and their siblings too but when their younger siblings disarrange them, they are disappointed and doesn’t like to do the arranging because they just got mad after seeing the pile of clothes are in clutter.

 

For the Love of our Country, everybody was telling their stories to the class how they clean their surroundings, see some leaking pipes seen on the streets and report them to the proper authorities. They also helped the clean surroundings by not throwing their garbage anywhere. They obey also the traffic rules and rules in the school. At this point, I check the fingernails of the children because this is related about being clean, neat and tidy when going to school. Many of them have clean fingernails. Aila had manicure and told her to wipe them out with a nail polish remover. Most of the children have dirty toenails. They forgot to brush them. I told them not only during Sundays that they got to be clean but to make it an everyday habit before going to school. They all agreed.

 

For industrious, I emphasized to them to do their household chores without being told to do so. They should help their parents clean their messy area and help them to be industrious  not lazy.

 

I then recap what we discussed today and the children chorused saying Obedience, Orderliness, Love for our Country and Industrious.

  

I let Mr. Kazu distribute his donations to the childrens, a set of ballpen. They were all happy and said finally they have new ballpens. We have lots of pencils in the office. They don’t use pencil at school unless they have Arts subject (drawing).

 

We serve them cakes and cookies that Me and Asami gave to the children and juice.

I thanked Helen who helped me prepare their snacks today.

 

At 12:25pm, we formed a big circle and the children sang  “Amahan Namo” as our closing prayer. .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3rd  Session – High School

Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

 

Attendance: Ashley, Kayla, and Chloe

 

(Andrew is absent. Her mother called me that he is very busy working on his projects in school.)

 

Ashley arrived very early. She arrive at 12:30pm.  Then at 12:55pm, Kayla arrived. Since it was 1:00pm, we have to start the session. Before we started to read about Obedience, Chloe arrived, thank God.

 

We had a normal session because we had no visitors today. I let the 3 of them take turns in reading our topics namely Obedience, Orderliness, Love for our Country and Industrious.

Each of them after reading explains what she understands about the topic. They are very good because they all understand what they are reading and they give examples of situations that happens in their house.

 

I asked each of them what their household chores. Everyone was delighted to share to us their chores. Ashley keeps the pile of clothes neat but sometimes she is discourage because her mother and stepfather doesn’t mind at all the orderliness and cleanliness of the room. Her efforts are not appreciated. But it is still okay for her. Kayla helps her mother only when she is told to do so. Chloe washes all the clothes of her family. She sometimes finish late because she has to buy water and detergent before she can start washing their clothes. She had a hard time because the clothes of her younger sisters are vey dirty and there’s not enough water and detergent for her to use.

 

Among the 3 ladies, it is Chloe who is very industrious and obedient. But she feels she is not loved by her parents. I assured her that her parents love her so much and they just don’t want her to end just like her elder sister who got married at an early age and have her life living on the streets with her children.

 

Ashley was complaining before we started our session that she have not eaten lunch yet. I served them snacks, doughnuts, cakes and biscuits given by Me and Asami. Mr. Kazu then distributed to the ladies his donation of ballpens. They were all glad to have them. They thanked Mr.Kazu.

It was Kayla’s turn to wash the plates and tumblers. They they all brushed their teeth. They ate the cakes and  biscuits and take out their doughnuts to share with their siblings and parents

 

At 2:50 pm, Kayla  lead the closing prayer. Then we all went home.
